Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Birthday Mom!

I’m not having much luck at all with the iMac LinuxPPC installation. Luckily I do have an entirely different box that I’m planning to play with it on.

My cold was especially bad this morning and coupling that with a very out of whack digestive system was a surefire recipe for staying home today. After getting in some good rest time during the day plus some Dristan cold medicine I felt a lot better.

LinuxPPC Problems

I finally got the chance to try the new LinuxPPC 2000 install on my iMac and it worked really well until I rebooted. Then I discovered the keyboard mapping is completely scrambled. Looks like I may have to reinstall.

March Madness

March Madness is of course beginning. Gonzaga faces Louisville on Thursday at 4:50 PM PST. Hopefully the game will be broadcast locally.

I just realized that my recently ordered copy of LinuxPPC 2000 should have arrived while I was gone last week. Sure enough it was there when I checked my work mailbox. It’s time to do some installs tonight. I’m feeling somewhat better today than I did yesterday. I’ve still got a pretty monstrous cold, but I made it into work and have successfully accomplished a few of the tasks that required my immediate attention.

Now that the high school basketball season is over I should have a lot more free time to work on things like my weblog, getting in shape, and various random projects I’ve been putting on the back burner.

Home From Tacoma

I got back home from Tacoma yesterday afternoon. I’m also feeling sicker than I was earlier in the week.

I’m feeling a little better now that I’ve eaten some tomato rice soup.

Somewhat Sick

I seem to be somewhat sick today. Not exactly the most thrilling way to start off a vacation.

While doing some last minute laundry this morning I discovered that both the washer and the dryer on my floor had been mysteriously replaced at some point in the last couple days. I’m usually gone during the morning and afternoon so it’s not that surprising that they were able to replace the old machines without me knowing, but last time I checked my building’s elevator was broken. I sure hope they got it fixed before they hauled those in.

Gonzaga’s Going Dancing

Oh, Yeah. I almost forgot to mention it. Gonzaga won the conference tournament yesterday and is going to the NCAA tournament!

I’m officially on vacation now!

Shooting Shirt

Hmm… Note to self: find shooting shirt for Kristen.

VCDs and MPEGs

I’m kind of intrigued by the idea of creating my own VCDs from videotapes of basketball games. Here’s a faq on the MPEG format. From a coaching standpoint it seems like it would be useful to jump to specific points in a game. The main downside to the format would be length of conversion time.

Bowling Tech

Technology is popping up everywhere these days and bowling is as much a candidate for innovation as anything. It’s probably been at least twelve years since my local bowling alley (Silver Lanes) added a computer scoring system, but I remember thinking that was so cool at the time compared to the traditional paper and pencil method. Of course my dad did teach me how to properly keep score in Bowling during my freshman P.E. class back in high school (yes, I got an A in his class).

Video Capture

Time to post something. I’ve been playing with video capture today at work and it’s been fairly fun and informative. I can’t wait to try fiddling around with a digital video camera that supports firewire.
It’s been raining all day long.

I’m going to be headed to Tacoma for a little working vacation later this week. I guess I’ll finally be putting my PowerBook’s modem to use.
