Cancelled Newspaper

Ugh. Blogger is down and I have things to write. Guess it’s time to pull out BBEdit and jot some stuff down for some post entry entry (if you know what I mean). It’s up! Copy - Paste here we go!

I cancelled my newspaper today. This was a pretty big step for me. Up till now reading my morning paper has always been essential to my daily routine. So essential in fact that I once got up at 3am just to track down my delivery guy when it mysteriously stopped arriving one week. I suspected my neighbors across the hall were swiping it for some reason, but it turned out that I merely had a new, slightly confused delivery man who seemed to be new to the country as well. What a relief solving that mystery was.

So what changed my mind? Stacks and stacks (and *stacks*) of newpapers overrunning my little apartment for one thing! Well, that and the fact that the high school basketball season is over. Reading about my dad’s team during the winter has always been a pretty major reason to subscribe. But with that over with and just about every article available on the web I think it’s time for a change.

DeepLeap

It’s been brewing for months… DeepLeap is finally available for public consumption. Now if they can just get that refresh problem ironed out in Internet Explorer.

Blogger Outage

Another Blogger outage this morning apparently. I’m not particularly concerned about the outages because I realize how tricky server moves and scaling issues can be. Things will work themselves out eventually.

The drenching rain we’ve been experiencing for the last day or so here in Spokane looks like it’s going to continue through most of the weekend.

Blogger Up

It’s about time Blogger got up and running. Of course I don’t have anything truly worthwhile to post at the moment. I think I’ll go get some lunch.

Redesign

I’ve finally got the new redesign underway, but I’m going to be conservative and estimate that it won’t be ready to go for another week or so. It’s been strictly design and color tinkering in Fireworks so far. I haven’t actually written a lick of html code yet.

Taxes

I did my taxes via the telephone a couple months back, but I finally paid via credit card last night. Had I known about the turbotax site that’s been getting a lot of free advertising lately I probably would have used it instead. Oh well, there’s alway next year to look forward to! Did I really just say that?

Online Photolab

Online Photolab has to be just about the coolest web application I’ve come across yet (sorry Pyra crew). It’s a free service that harnesses the power of the GIMP to provide web base image editing and creation. Signing up for an account gives you 50 MB of storage space to work with as well!

6th Blogger

Wow! Jack is the sixth blogger now. I, like Brig, am envious. Unfortunately I’m not a web design/application superstar at this point. I’m more like one of those late round draft picks with some raw potential that get labelled as a project.

REI Shopping

Another Monday is coming to an end. I did a little shopping at REI this evening and picked up two pairs of shorts and a shirt. With the great spring weather we’ve been having of late I really needed to upgrade my wardrobe.

I’m starting to think seriously about purchasing a new digital camera, but I don’t have a particular one in mind yet. I’m hoping to keep it under $500, but we’ll just have to see if I can find one with the features I want in that price range.

Weekend Recap

Okay, so it’s definitely time that I write something before the day (and weekend) come to an end. I haven’t accomplished a whole lot, but I did finish rereading Orson Scott Card’s Treason yesterday after Mary and I caught a showing of Return To Me.
