A couple MacOS X related weblogs: wwdc2000.weblogs.com and macosx.weblogs.com.
I finally bought a new mattress for my futon last night. It’s a lot nicer than the one it’s replacing, but I don’t have it yet for a variety of ridiculous reasons I won’t bother going into. I should get it today though.
Another cold spring day in Spokane. Lots of big gray clouds broken up with patches of sunlight.
The MacOS X buzz is growing this week with several new articles appearing on the web, but nothing really earth shattering has been revealed yet. Damien pointed me towards this Applelinks Article by Charles W Moore and I found another new OS Xing column over at Macweek today as well.
On a MacOS X related note: I discovered yesterday that I could download the latest version of Darwin in a selfmounting archive so I went ahead and downloaded it. It’s obviously not the same as a MacOS X developers release, but I thought it’d be interesting to play with since I do have an extra partition on my trusty iMac.
I’m really looking forward to seeing just what kind of information comes out of the Apple WWDC 2000 next week. Hopefully Apple’s engineers have made some significant improvements since January that address some of the problems with the new Aqua interface. Of course I’m far more interested in the fact that it’s all being built on top of a BSD core.
I stumbled across the web page for Jamie Zawinksi’s current big project, remodeling the DNA Lounge and it’s a fairly interesting read. Once it finally gets finished it looks like it’ll be pretty cool.
Okay, it’s official. Two weeks until DSL will be active at my new apartment. I guess I’m finally going to have to start using my built in modem (the horror!). At least I have plenty of bandwidth at work.
It was a long tiring weekend of moving (and stair climbing), but the majority of my belongings are now at the new apartment. Now I just have to get things cleaned up at the old one so I can concentrate on unpacking and arranging things at the new one.
I was so busy during the weekend that I didn’t mind my lack of Internet connectivity too much, but I definitely feel behind and it’s only been two days.
Mary and I saw a late showing of Gladiator last night. It was brutal and ultra-violent, but very good.
This weekend I’m hoping to get the majority of my stuff moved over to the new apartment, so I probably won’t have a whole lot of time for computing. Couple that with a lack of Internet connectivity at my new place and that’s pretty much a recipe for lack of updates. In spite (or because?) of this I’m getting all these nifty project ideas that I don’t have time to do anything about. Guess I’d better jot them down somewhere.
Hey, I just realized that the “edit your blog” page buttons on IE 5 Mac are suddenly very similar to those on the IE 5 PC version. Cool.
My phone line was disconnected at around midnight last night. Now if everything goes according to plan it will be reconnected sometime today. Curiously, my DSL connection continued to work over my disconnected phone line. I’m not complaining as it sounds like it’s going to be a couple weeks before USWest can get it going at my new place.
I decided to try calling my home phone number from work and voice messaging is working so I assume it’s reconnected.
On a Python (and math) related note, the first in what looks to be an ongoing series of articles on numerical computing in Python over at O’Reilly’s Python DevCenter
