Cougars Win

WSU managed to pull off the win against the Boilermakers in the Sunbowl today, but for a few minutes there I thought they were going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. You’ve got to like a 10-2 record for the season. Nice job Cougs!

Kate And Leopold

Mary and I caught a showing of Kate and Leopold this afternoon when we discovered that the movie we had planned to attend at that time was sold out. K&L was a cute little time travel romance and it even had references to MacOS 9.6(?) and appearances by Macs so that was a plus. The time travel elements seemed a little illogical to me late in the movie, but if you put those aside it was a fun movie to see with someone you love.

GSL Update

It’s been a few days now, but it’s still worth mentioning that Shadle Park beat Ferris 80-72 Friday night. Brett Weisner and Danny Pariseau both had season highs with 32 points and 24 points respectively for the Highlanders. The Saxon’s scoring leaders were Mallon with 32, and Parker with a season high 21 points. Shadle’s three other starters combined for 22 while, the Saxons other starting three combined for 18. The bench battle went to the Highlanders 2-1 which isn’t surprising considering both teams’ lack of depth.

Friday’s game puts Ferris in a tie for third place with Central Valley with games against L.C. and Gonzaga Prep remaining in the first round. Central Valley plays Shadle Park next and then finishes up with East Valley. I like how C.V. matches up with Shadle and the fact that they’ve had over a week to prepare for the Highlanders is a big plus as well. At this point I still give Shadle the edge because of their experience, but I think the Bears should be able to make it interesting and have a legitimate shot to take one from the Highlanders by the end of the season.

The Fellowship Of The Ring

Mary and I finally caught a showing of The Fellowship Of The Ring tonight and it was really impressive. Very cool cinematography and special effects, coupled with excellent casting and acting made for one excellent film. I’m looking forward to watching this in the theater again already.

In a way it’s too bad there are so many other quality films coming out at once because a few gems always tend to get lost in the shuffle.

What’s Going On?

Hanging out at home now that I’m back from practice. I haven’t played any Deimos Rising in a few days, maybe I should blow twenty minutes doing that.

I also really, really need to clean up the top of my desk. It’s reached critical mass— if I put anything else on it, important stuff is going to start falling off. Plus I need to find room for my sister’s iBook so that I can finish upgrading it.

In other fronts I’m going to have to jump start my car sometime during the next 18 hours. Between the cold and lack of use it’s received in the last several days it refused to start this afternoon when I needed to go to practice. Repeated cranking on the ignition only succeeded in running my battery down and in the end I had to borrow Mary’s car. That was fine for today, but we really need two functional cars by tomorrow morning.

Yawn!

Well, the weekend is almost over and my Christmas shopping is nearly done. Mary and I did some shopping together this afternoon which was good, but bad in the sense that I couldn’t finish shopping for her present. I bought a couple things for her yesterday, but I wasn’t really satisfied with them. I’ve got my side of the family completely covered though. Hopefully I’ll able to get Mary’s gift wrapped up by noon tomorrow as well (literally and figuratively).

I’m getting pretty tired now. I’d better turn in so I can get an early start.
