Final Four [01]

*Blogging the Final Four*

I held off doing this for the Indiana - Oklahoma game, but I think I’ll give it a try as a fun experiment for the Maryland - Kansas game.

They just finished the pre game introductions.

Billy Packer is giving his pregame analysis. Jim Nance is okay, but Billy has really grown to annoy me over the last couple years.

Maryland wins the tip. Wilcox misses and Kansas rebounds. Gooden missed his first shot of the game. Both teams have started in man to man defense.

BP raves about Chris Wilcox jumping ability and shot blocking capabilities. Score is still 0.

Collison scores first for Kansas. Mouton just threw it away for Maryland.

Kansas goes inside out and misses, but

Hinrich just nailed a three and then Blake turned the ball over on a length of court pass.

Offensive foul on Baxter. Both teams score on layups, but Baxter just picked up his second foul.

BP observes that Collison did a better job of getting position in the early minutes than Baxter thus Lonnie ends up on the bench.

7-2 Maryland. The Terps are struggling and Hinrich just hit another three. 10-2 as we go to commercial.

I went to Resident Evil

I went to Resident Evil tonight. It was actually pretty decent for a movie based on a video game. Of course I enjoy movies with action, suspense, zombies, runaway AI, evil mega-corporations and a few plot twists thrown in for good measure. I think I might just pick this up on DVD when it comes out.

I also caught the trailer for Jason X the 10th Friday the 13th Movie. Oddly enough it’s set in space in the far future. I actually thought it looked like an interesting movie for about 10 seconds before I realized what was going on. I did find the “Evil gets an upgrade” tagline amusing.

Wish List: 9 Innovations in Search of Inventors. Could consumer electronics use a dose of innovation? Here are a few proposals for gadgets and services that don’t exist, but should. By David Pogue. [New York Times: Technology]

My favorite idea from the group is definitely Microwave Plus— maybe in a couple years we’ll actually see that.

Busy Afternoon

Busy afternoon at work. And then when I was just about ready to leave a printer start malfunctioning. Fun. Fun.

This evening we finally had the Ferris Boys Basketball awards banquet. It was a fun close to a great season. A couple tidbits of interest from the proceedings: Sean Mallon is this year’s Washington State Gatorade Player of Year and Ferris will play Lincoln December 9 in a rematch of the 4A championship game.

Forget comments. Blogchat is definitely where it’s at. Hat’s off to Brent Ashley. This is seriously cool stuff.

Speaking of the Radio Tool

Speaking of the Radio Tool project I’m thinking about doing (booklib), Gregor sent me a link to an isbn.nu related macro that he came up with a while back on his Radio weblog. I’ll have to look at it a little closer when I get home.

MySQL Frontier Comparison

Brent has written a really nice article for Frontier users interested in relational databases: MySQL Explained to Frontier Users. I’m actually much more familiar with relational databases than the nuances of the ODB in Frontier, but I still found the article incredibly helpful, especially in light of the Radio Tool project I’ve been thinking about.

Blogging Idea

A thought occurred to me this morning after I read Dori Smith’s blogged opinions of last night’s Oscars: I should try blogging a game from the upcoming Final Four. Depending on how it goes I might do more than one, but I’d rather not committ to doing the whole deal if I find it’s more enjoyable to just watch. Cool.

DaveNet Column

Dave Winer has an interesting DaveNet column today: My Long Bet with the NY Times. Apparently Dave is betting that weblogs will be more authoritative on the web then the Gray Lady five years from now.

My thought is: Isn’t this already the case?

Another weekend comes to an end.It seems like I should have something more interesting to post, but nothing much comes to mind at the moment. Maybe this week will be better in that department.
