Mod Squad

The Mod Squad Console games like Xbox get the media attention, but PC games are far more intriguing: Whole worlds are rewritten by the players themselves.

Creating my own mods or levels for fps games like Marathon, Quake and, Unreal always intrigued me, but I was never enough of a hard core gamer to get into it. I’ve always been more into real time strategy myself anyway, but I can’t say I’ve ever really played with any of the level editors for games like Starcraft or Myth II. I should fiddle around with making my own Starcraft level at some point.

DSL Up

DSL is up an running thanks to the new NetDSL 800. Configuration wasn’t very complicated which was nice. Just a matter of entering my username and password then a brief wait while it configured and update its firmware.

Latest Word

The latest word from my wife is that the DSL modem kit arrive today so hopefully we’ll be able to get it fired up once I get home. In phone related news I can’t seem to dial our home number from work any more. I just get a beep…beep…beep…beep. Hopefully that’s just a problem here at work.

Very Busy

It’s been a very busy and hectic week and a half, but we’re finally getting fairly settled into our new house. No DSL/Internet connection and no office space has translated into minimal computing time for me and a lack of posts in the weblog world, but that should be changing fairly soon. I still have to figure out why only one outlet in my office has power though.
