Biking Shape

Wednesday, May 19th, 1999

I rode my bike to work again for the first time this week. On the way home I was pretty pleased with the ease I was able to blow by another biker going up Howard. He actually caught up to me while I was waiting at the light on 2nd and I didn’t try to beat him from that point, but I totally dusted him on the way up.

I think my legs are definitely starting to get in better biking shape. I may have to start running here again soon too. I definitely want to start getting in better shape.

Wednesday Ride

Wednesday, May 12th, 1999

I didn’t ride to work today, but I did get in a pretty good ride after I got home. It made me realize that there’s a definite downside to living towards the bottom of the South Hill when you decide to ride up it and you’re out of shape.

Even though the weather has been weird and crappy in May so far I really think this is going to be a good summer overall. Chances are it will go by really quickly as well.

I should really get around to doing some of the site improvements I’ve been mulling over forever. Or I could just go to sleep now. I am kind of tired.

Bike Commute

Monday, May 10th, 1999

I rode my bike to work for the first time today. This morning I tried to dress appropriately for the conditions since it was somewhat cold, but I still managed to break a sweat by the time I got there. Unfortunately my ears took about twenty minutes to warm up.

The ride home from work was much nicer temperature wise and I tried to take it a little bit easier. By the time I navigated through downtown and up the short hill to my apartment I had started sweating once again.

I think my commute is going to work out pretty well this summer. Now it’s time to start looking at car repairs.

New Bike!

Saturday, May 8th, 1999

I have my bike. Time for a test ride now.

The weird weather continues. As I was coming out of the grocery store prior to picking up my new bike I had to contend with a sun/rain/snow mix.

New Bike Tomorrow?

Friday, May 7th, 1999

I found out that my new bike finally arrived today. Unfortunately it still needs to be assembled. If I’m lucky they’ll get it done by the end of the day otherwise it’s supposed to be ready tomorrow morning.

The track meet yesterday was fairly entertaining. I didn’t make it to the grocery store though.

Tired

Monday, May 3rd, 1999

I’m really feeling tired as I right this. And when I start writing in homonyms that’s clearly a symptom. LOL

Kristen and I took her new (used) car over to Nichole’s to show it off and take her out to ice cream. I got a strawberry sundae. It was excellent.

It turns out my bike didn’t ship out from the factory until last Friday. At least it should be ready by the weekend now.

Bloomsday

Sunday, May 2nd, 1999

Today was the first rainy Bloomsday in the history of the race. I’m glad I wasn’t running it today.

I hope my bike shows up soon.

All things considered, today was a very good day.

Videos With Kristen

Friday, April 30th, 1999

No bike yet, but today was definitely a most excellent day anyway!

I test drove Kristen’s new means of transportation and watched a couple videos with her. Home Fries was basically lame I thought, while Gattaca was as good as I remembered it being.

Headache

Thursday, April 29th, 1999

My bike is in UPS shipping limbo. After calling Wheelsport just about everyday this week I decided to leave my name and number and let them call me when my bike arrives.

I’ve got a headache and I’m tired. Hopefully I will be able to get to sleep decently tonight. I’ve woken up well before my alarm most of this week despite not being able to fall asleep immediately when I go to bed.

I didn’t see her race, but I hear that Nichole PR’d with a 12:17 in the 3200 today. Nice Job! It had to be the cd right?

Chernobyl Virus

Monday, April 26th, 1999

Today was supposed to be the big Chernobyl virus day, but nothing really materialized at work which was definitely good.

I called Wheelsport to see if my bike was here yet, but alas it sounds like tomorrow or Wednesday will be the magical day.

Nice Weather On A Friday

Friday, April 23rd, 1999

What a nice day weather wise. I wish I had my bike already. I’d be doing some serious riding around town. There are lots of places that I’d like to explore that I’ve never been to in all my years in Spokane.

Everybody cleared out of work early it seemed like. I left a little early myself.

College campuses always seem to come alive during the spring and GU is no exception. Students are out throwing frisbees and having fun soaking up the rays. It’s nice to be a part of that every day.

Trek 7500SHX

Wednesday, April 21st, 1999

After a day of mulling over my bike purchasing options I went for the gusto and ordered this beauty.

Trek 7500 SHX

It should arrive about a week from today.

Kristen and I successfully burned our first music cd tonight. It was really quick once we selected all the tunes we wanted. That took a long time though.

Bike Shopping

Tuesday, April 20th, 1999

My visit to Wheelsport yesterday was pretty fruitful. I tried out two of the main models I was thinking about, the Trek 7500 and the Trek 7500 SHX. Front shocks make a huge difference in the feel of the bike!

I went out to my family’s to try making a cd with Kristen, but I forgot one important thing- the blank cdr’s! Doh!

I also watched Futurama of course. It was definitely the best one to date.

Destination Wheelsport

Monday, April 19th, 1999

I’m looking forward to having my own bike and riding it to work on a daily basis. Hopefully I’ll be able to negotiate the downtown traffic without too much trouble.

I’m going to go to Wheelsport after work to check out the bike models I’m interested in.

I successfully burned my first cdr last night and then I optimized my hard drive.

Now I need to try my hand at music cds.
