NFL Playoffs

Monday, January 17th, 2000

I actually have quite a bit of space now that I’ve cleaned up some of the clutter in my apartment. It’s a nice feeling. I’ve been thinking about doing a site redesign for a while now, but I haven’t started on it yet. I think I should be able to find time during the coming week though.

I didn’t watch any of the playoff games this past weekend, but it’s definitely cool to see a bunch of fresh teams in the NFL playoffs. CNNSI‘s Peter King gives a pretty good rundown on this week’s match ups.

Incidentally, Jeff Robinson, one of my dad‘s former players, scored a touchdown for the Rams in yesterday’s game against the Vikings. He was a starter for the Ferris basketball team that finished second in the Washington AAA state tournament in 1988.

Reflections On The State Championship Game

Tuesday, April 27th, 1999

I’m off to a an early start today for some reason.

I was going to go to bed early last night, but then I started reading GEB last night and then I followed that by writing down assorted random thoughts about my day (which took quite a while given all the things I had on my mind).

I watched the first half of the State championship game we lost to Walla Walla. It wasn’t particularly enlightening, but it did refresh my memory about a few impressions I had at the time.

I don’t think we ran any offense other than straight motion and we weren’t effective doing that at all against their defense. As things went from bad to worse in the first half our players started having more and more mental lapses and doing a lot of uncharacteristic things.

State Championship Game

Saturday, March 13th, 1999

State Tournament Championship Game.

We played our worst half of basketball of the season and were never able to get closer than 10 in the second half. Walla Walla ended up winning by 16.

Despite the disappointing end to the season the guys have nothing to be ashamed of. They had a great season (26 – 3) and their number two finish is the best for Ferris in five years.

State Semis

Friday, March 12th, 1999

State Tournament Semifinals.

Ferris defeats Eastlake to advance to the finals against Walla Walla.

Ferris Beats Lincoln

Happy State Basketball Birthday Dad!

Wednesday, March 10th, 1999

In Tacoma.

Ferris beat Decatur handily in the first round of the State 4A basketball tournament. Decatur’s coach wore a crazy orange jumpsuit!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Regional Champions!

Sunday, March 7th, 1999

Ferris won their first Regional Championship ever last night by beating Davis 66-55.

Ferris’s next game will be at 7pm Wednesday against Decatur in the first round of the State Tournament.

Tacoma here we come!

Victory Over Walla Walla

Saturday, March 6th, 1999

On to State! Ferris clamped down on Walla Walla’s 3 point shooters and managed to win an exciting game 43-29.

Next up: Davis at 8pm for the regional championship game.

Despite six previous trips to State in the 90′s Ferris has never won a regional championship.

Walla Walla Matchup

Friday, March 5th, 1999

Today Ferris plays Walla Walla at 9pm with a state berth on the line. Both teams are 21-2 headed into the contest. Should be a good one!

Taking Care Of Eisenhower

Tuesday, March 2nd, 1999

Ferris started off regionals with a 39-24 win over Ike. Next up Walla Walla.

My old mac clone is acting cantankerous. Ugh! Time to install Linux permanently.

Cleaning And Basketball

Saturday, February 27th, 1999

Today I’m going on a serious apartment cleaning spree. For some reason I woke up at 6 AM this morning and actually got up rather than going back to sleep.

I’m even thinking about finally getting Linux up and running on my other machine!

The Ferris boys basketball team beat LC 51-39 yesterday to win the GSL district championship. Nice job guys!

More Hoops

Friday, February 26th, 1999

Last night Ferris came away with a 40-30 victory in a defensive battle against Gonzaga Prep.

Lewis & Clark beat up Central Valley in a surprising 55-36 upset.

Rubber Chicken III commences at 9pm tonight in the Spokane Arena.

Design Tweaks

Thursday, February 25th, 1999

I’ve started fiddling with the sidebar and I’m running up against the ever so annoying browser implementation differences. IE 4.5 for the Mac doesn’t recognize the fact that I’m overriding the sidebar link color (it should be white, not blue), while Netscape Navigator 4.07 gets that part right, but munges the sides of my nested table. As Dave Winer always says Still diggin’!

Found a fix for things.

Tonight at 5:30pm Ferris plays G-Prep in the Spokane Arena.

Scouting Hoops

Tuesday, February 23rd, 1999

It looks like I’m going to be taking over the GU School of Education’s web site.

Tonight was the first round of the district playoffs. The Ferris boys had a bye tonight since we finished second in league so my dad and I went and scouted the Gonzaga Prep vs. Shadle Park game. It was tied at the half, but Prep pulled away and won 62-52. They will be our opponent on Thursday.

Regular Season End

Friday, February 19th, 1999

Both Ferris boys teams closed out the season with wins yesterday.

Nice job gentlemen! I didn’t think this year’s JV team could top last year’s 19-1 season, but by bouncing back from a season opening loss and winning 20 straight, breaking 100 points once, and going undefeated in league they did just that. Now it’s time for the Second Season.

I got an email back from Anneke and she definitely rates high on the Jason coolness scale : ).

Randomness

New Layout In Progress!

It took me a month to get to here, but at least I’m getting somewhere finally.

Rubber Chicken Part II. Tonight Ferris takes on south hill rival LC to bring the regular season to a close.

Once again I’m up much later (earlier) than I should be!

I’ve never met Anneke or even communicated with her in any way, but based on her webpage she strikes me as a pretty cool person.

Hoops Update

Wednesday, February 17th, 1999

The Ferris boys teams won both their games against Mead yesterday.

My neighbors at Lewis & Clark HS beat G-Prep yesterday in what had to be the most brutal game I’ve seen this season. LC will be our final opponent of the regular season on Thursday.

I’m doing surprisingly well considering how small my total sleep time has been in the last 24 hours. I guess I don’t need as much sleep as some people like my buddy Nichole.

On a visit to Everything today I discovered a mathematical explanation for the story of my life.

Ferris Wins And Other Stuff

Saturday, February 13th, 1999

Both Ferris boys basketball teams won yesterday. Central Valley beat G-Prep 55-43 to avenge their lone loss of the season.

I’m headed for Seattle this afternoon, but I anticipate being able to update everything from afar.

Everybody should begin their day with a dose of Sluggy Freelance. Pete Abrams is a genius!

N C Rematch

Friday, February 12th, 1999

Today the Ferris JV boys team plays NC at 5:15. This is a big game for the JV team since NC has one of the best JV teams in league. The boys varsity game will follow at 6:45.

The BIG game of the night is of course the rematch between CV and Gonzaga Prep out at SFCC.

Two Wins Over U-Hi

Tuesday, February 9th, 1999

Both of the Ferris boys basketball teams managed to get by University today. The JV team won by five and the varsity by around 19.

Weather

Monday, February 8th, 1999

It snowed a little bit this evening right at the end of work, but it didn’t end up being all that much. That was especially good since I usually park on a hill and it can be a big mess.

I think being able to see the latest doppler radar for the area is the coolest thing.

Tomorrow it’s rematch time with University. The boys JV team plays at 4:45pm and the varsity plays at 8pm at U-High.

Today’s Roundball Update

Thursday, February 4th, 1999

The Ferris JV team started the day off right by beating North Central by about 25. The Ferris varsity team topped that with a 35 point win over NC.

G-Prep did one better by beating Central Valley 51-50 to hand them their first loss of the season.

Hoops Update

Wednesday, February 3rd, 1999

Yesterday’s basketball game: Ferris 58, Rogers 44

Yesterday’s big upset: Shadle Park 55, Gonzaga Prep 54

That puts Ferris all alone in second place behind Central Valley.

I picked up my family’s new iMac today!
