Apple Cup Time

Saturday, November 20th, 1999

Well, it’s Apple Cup weekend here in the state of Washington. Today’s game will be the 92nd meeting between the WSU Cougars and the Washington Huskies. Unfortunately I’m going to have to miss the first half because of basketball practice.

Speaking of basketball practice- yesterday I was made painfully aware of my lack of physical conditioning when I had to take part in several basketball drills and full court play with the Ferris JV team. Too much computer time the last several months I think.

Basketball Awards Dessert

Wednesday, March 24th, 1999

Today was the pretty good overall. I got to watch Breanna do some ice skating in the afternoon. I had dinner with my grandparents this evening (excellent stuffed tomato) and then I went to the Ferris boys basketball awards dessert.

What a great year for Ferris boys basketball. A 14-0 freshman team, a 20-1 junior varsity team, and a 26-3 State 2nd place varsity team!

Regular Season End

Friday, February 19th, 1999

Both Ferris boys teams closed out the season with wins yesterday.

Nice job gentlemen! I didn’t think this year’s JV team could top last year’s 19-1 season, but by bouncing back from a season opening loss and winning 20 straight, breaking 100 points once, and going undefeated in league they did just that. Now it’s time for the Second Season.

I got an email back from Anneke and she definitely rates high on the Jason coolness scale : ).

Hoops Update

Wednesday, February 17th, 1999

The Ferris boys teams won both their games against Mead yesterday.

My neighbors at Lewis & Clark HS beat G-Prep yesterday in what had to be the most brutal game I’ve seen this season. LC will be our final opponent of the regular season on Thursday.

I’m doing surprisingly well considering how small my total sleep time has been in the last 24 hours. I guess I don’t need as much sleep as some people like my buddy Nichole.

On a visit to Everything today I discovered a mathematical explanation for the story of my life.

Ferris Wins And Other Stuff

Saturday, February 13th, 1999

Both Ferris boys basketball teams won yesterday. Central Valley beat G-Prep 55-43 to avenge their lone loss of the season.

I’m headed for Seattle this afternoon, but I anticipate being able to update everything from afar.

Everybody should begin their day with a dose of Sluggy Freelance. Pete Abrams is a genius!

N C Rematch

Friday, February 12th, 1999

Today the Ferris JV boys team plays NC at 5:15. This is a big game for the JV team since NC has one of the best JV teams in league. The boys varsity game will follow at 6:45.

The BIG game of the night is of course the rematch between CV and Gonzaga Prep out at SFCC.

Two Wins Over U-Hi

Tuesday, February 9th, 1999

Both of the Ferris boys basketball teams managed to get by University today. The JV team won by five and the varsity by around 19.

Today’s Roundball Update

Thursday, February 4th, 1999

The Ferris JV team started the day off right by beating North Central by about 25. The Ferris varsity team topped that with a 35 point win over NC.

G-Prep did one better by beating Central Valley 51-50 to hand them their first loss of the season.

CV Rematch

Tuesday, January 26th, 1999

Today the Ferris varsity boys basketball team plays their biggest game of the season to date when they face Central Valley on the road for a share of first place in the GSL. Our only loss of the season was at the hands of CV on our home court back in December and there is no question the team has been looking forward to this rematch every day since.

Update:

Well, the basketball games didn’t turn out quite like I was hoping. The Ferris JV team started out the day by playing the worst 20 minutes of basketball I’ve seen this season. Luckily there are 32 minutes in a complete game. With 4 minutes remaining in the third quarter we were down 19 points, yet somehow thanks to inspired team defense and six 3’s by Kevin “The Trifecta” Aronson we managed to get it turned around and win by 5.

The varsity game on the other hand was a closely contested battle between two good teams that ended with a two point margin of victory and us on the losing side. Central Valley may have secured the league title with tonight’s victory, but they haven’t seen the last of Ferris by any means.
