Fun And Football

Sunday, January 9th, 2000

Amusing Javascript fun for the whole family. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to play with the Magic Ghetto 8 Ball.

The Seahawks managed to lose by 3 to Miami today in a disappointing final appearance at the Kingdome. I’m looking forward to seeing what Coach Holmgren can do in the off season when he puts on his general manager’s hat. Judging by today’s performance he might start looking at beefing up the Offensive Line. Just a thought.

Seahawks Lose

Sunday, December 12th, 1999

Ah, how northwest sporting fortunes can change from day to day. Yet another bad outing for the Seahawks as San Diego pulls of f a 19-16 victory at the Kingdome.

WTO Update

Tuesday, November 30th, 1999

Police used pepper spray and tear gas on incoming protestors. It’s completely crazy in Seattle right now. My friend Steve works in downtown Seattle and he mentioned seeing a cloud of tear gas waft by where he works this afternoon.

The sad thing is all the violence and rioting that broke out today completely undermine any legitimate protests. What a mess. I wonder how long it’s going to take downtown Seattle to recover once the conference is over?

Hmmm. Looks like Nedstat is broken right now. I tried to check the hits for my weblog and it told me I didn’t have an account with them. Since I knew Lake Effect used this service as well I tried its link and came up with the same result. Lame.

Seahawks And WTO

Sunday, November 28th, 1999

Today was not a good day for the Seahawks.

It also wasn’t much of a day as far as me accomplishing anything.

I think I’m going to be gladder than usual that I don’t live in Seattle this week when the World Trade Organization comes to town. Seattle Weekly has a special supplement offering coverage of the event.

Linux And Indigo Girls

Thursday, November 11th, 1999

This week just flew by. Tomorrow after a half day of work I’m headed to Seattle for an Indigo Girls concert.

Hopefully Snoqualmie Pass won’t be too bad tomorrow afternoon. We’ve got our snow tires on…

On the linux scene I’ve managed to successfully load LinuxPPC on that old Mac clone I mentioned a few days ago thanks to some borrowed RAM. It’s looking like some of my problems were being cause by a defective DIMM. I’m going to have to pick up some more RAM and a G3 upgrade pretty soon here.

I started playing with Emacs today at work. I know it’s considered the text editor by a lot of people, but I haven’t touched it since my college days and I actually never used it to do anything back then. Better later than never.

Hey boys and girls! It’s the Home Gene Splicing Kit!

Stadium View

Saturday, November 6th, 1999

Wow! Here’s a cool office window view if you’re a baseball fan.

I wonder if any of the large office buildings to the north of Safeco Field in Seattle can see the field when the roof is retracted? I know that even with the roof closed you can see into the stadium a bit from I-5 as you drive by; obviously that’s not the best place to be looking at the passing scenery or watching baseball games.

Seattle Shopping

Sunday, June 20th, 1999

Mary and I headed back to Spokane today after a little bit of shopping at the U Village Barnes and Noble and REI. I bought a really cool red bike messenger bag at REI and four books at Barnes and Noble.

Hanging With Steve And Jesse

Saturday, June 19th, 1999

I ate at Thai Tom’s on the Ave for the first time and it was really good. I definitely got plenty of good Thai food this week.

Afterward we headed back to Steve’s apartment for some cutthroat UNO. Holly ripped (accurately) on my card dealing skills and Mary was kicking all of our butts until she had to leave to pick up her brother at the airport.

We took a brief ice cream break at that point and went to MixUp. Jesse and I indulged ourselves in some Decadence (a raspberry, chocolate ice cream, and brownies mix).

I finished up the night with my friends by watching Better Off Dead”. I enjoyed the movie, but I was pretty tired and it didn’t seem quite as good as it used to.

Theatre Sports

Friday, June 18th, 1999

I took Mary to her first Theatre Sports at the Market Theatre. It was my second time and completely awesome. The ice skating rink sketch was completely amazing!

No Ride To The Airport

Thursday, June 17th, 1999

My dad was supposed to take me to the airport today. Unfortunately he completely forgot. I still managed to get to Seattle successfully though.

Uneventful Sunday

Sunday, June 13th, 1999

Today like most Sunday’s ended up being a pretty uneventful day for me. I did get in a nice phone conversation with Mary, who is over in Seattle house sitting for her brother.

My apartment has been pretty hot lately. I may have to pick up a little air conditioner soon.

Return From Seattle

Monday, February 22nd, 1999

I made it back to Spokane okay, but my flight on Southwest Airlines was delayed about an hour. I don’t like waiting in airports by myself especially.

Steve’s Birthday

Sunday, February 21st, 1999

I was actually in Seattle again for most of the weekend!

Today is my good friend Steve Wilhelm’s birthday!

Weekend recap: A couple week’s back Steve’s most excellent girlfriend Holly and his sister Robyn hatched a plan to throw a surprise birthday party for him Saturday evening. I thought it over briefly and decided to fly into town for the event since I’d driven over the previous weekend.

Jesse picked me up at the airport Friday and dropped me off at Holly’s apartment. I hung out there and ate lots of chips until Holly had to go in to work at the Market Theatre. I went with her and got to see Unexpected Productions Theatre Sports. That was completely awesome.

Saturday I slept in and hung out with Holly until she had to take off for UW On Cue, a drama program she’s involved with. I ended up reading and snacking until Robyn came to pick me up and smuggle me into her apartment which is in the same building as Steve and Jesse’s apartment actually.

Once we got to her place, Robyn and I went into a decorating frenzy, inflating (and popping) helium balloons, hanging crazy streamers, and finally placing stars and planets all over the ceiling.

In the end Steve was surprised, the party was a success, and a fun time was had by all. The highlight of the night was of course Holly’s dance with the Han Solo cut out!

Seattle

Monday, February 15th, 1999

It’s time to head back to Spokane pretty soon here.

Jesse got back last night right after I finished working on yesterday’s update so we got to hang out and catch up a bit.

When Steve and Holly returned we rented a strange movie called Lawn Dogs. It was okay. The moral of the story in my estimation would have to be don’t chase dogs with trucks.

The drive home to Spokane was uneventful. The pass was clear and I made good time.

Live From Seattle: Rushmore

Sunday, February 14th, 1999

Yes indeed, I’m live from Seattle today. The drive over yesterday was pretty good. Overcast off and on, and it was wet on the road along the pass, but otherwise clear sailing.

I went to Rushmore yesterday. It was funny, poignant, and very good.

It’s now evening and everyone’s off doing the romantic stuff that you typically do on February 14th. So I am of course all by my lonesome for the moment. I am actually quite enjoying being by myself right now.

I haven’t gotten to interact much with my friend Jesse so far this weekend because he was fairly sick yesterday. Today he was somewhat better and we had lunch at Pagliacci’s (unfortunately their site doesn’t seem to be functional yet), but afterward he came home and went to sleep. However a funny thing happened… a girl by the name of Katie called and not three minutes later he was out the door and I haven’t seen him since. Perhaps he’s got a little love bug to go along with whatever else is ailing him.

Earlier today my friend Holly helped me pick out some nifty new green Birkenstocks. This is my first pair so perhaps in some small way buying them today was a momentous occasion for me.

Ferris Wins And Other Stuff

Saturday, February 13th, 1999

Both Ferris boys basketball teams won yesterday. Central Valley beat G-Prep 55-43 to avenge their lone loss of the season.

I’m headed for Seattle this afternoon, but I anticipate being able to update everything from afar.

Everybody should begin their day with a dose of Sluggy Freelance. Pete Abrams is a genius!
