Valentines Day

Monday, February 14th, 2000

Well, obviously it started working again. I’ll quit complaining.

Great, Blogger is acting weird this morning and telling me it can’t find axodys.com. I of course have no problems going directly to axodys.com.

There’s quite a bit of snow dropping out of the sky this morning. And it hasn’t shown any signs of letting up yet either.

Happy Valentines Day Mary! I love you!

Hmm… so much for inline CSS. I wonder what I’m doing wrong? Ah ha! Fractured tags can kill you.

Monday Monday

Monday, January 31st, 2000

I don’t suppose anyone knows whether the built in modems on iMacs or Lombard model PowerBooks support Caller ID. Feel free to drop me an email if you do. It just occurred to me today that since I have Caller ID it would be fairly cool to whip up a little REALbasic program that announced who was calling. I suppose that even if those internal modems don’t support it I may have an old external that does.

I was surprised to wake up to a light skiff of snow this morning. Didn’t realize that was in the cards at all. Of course tonight we’re supposed to get a few inches of snow turning into freezing rain in the morning. With the steep hill outside my apartment that inevitably means I’m going to be hearing a lot of spinning tires tomorrow morning when I wake up.

Tuesday Update

Tuesday, January 11th, 2000

Looks like I was born in the year of the sound bite.

This David K. Every column over at MacWeek has an interesting comparison of the value of Apple stock vs. Dell stock. 2000 is going to be a fascinating year for Apple with everything they’ve got in the works.

I’ve been working on Filemaker Pro here at work quite a bit in the last few months. Its simplicity and ease of use makes it well suited for various record keeping tasks we have here in the Gonzaga School of Education. There are definitely times when I wish working with it was a little bit more like traditional programming, but overall I’m quite satisfied with it.

It snowed just enough last night to make the morning drive to work a little bit dicey. Thankfully I only live 10 minutes away (under normal conditions of course). I decided to take the freeway thinking it might be a little more clear than the side streets, but the exit ramp ended up being a bigger mess than I anticipated.

Winter Wonderland

Monday, January 3rd, 2000

Snow, Snow, Snow!! Looks like we’re supposed to get 1-3 inches tonight. That totally makes me think about going sledding. The downside to this activity of course being that you have to carry the sled all the way back up the hill.

I’m fighting the urge to visit the local CompUSSR. It’s pretty close to where I work and on the way home…

End Of Year Plans

Friday, December 31st, 1999

It’s the final countdown! Now if only I could get that old Europe song out of my head… Anyway I’m planning on staying home for the big change over myself. And with all the snow that we’re getting in Spokane right now, I’m betting more than a few people may change their minds about going out.

I’ve been going a little Python crazy lately. Last night while renting a few new years eve movies at the local Hastings I discovered they had a copy of Programming Python and snapped it up. I’ve pretty much decided to make Python my language of choice for right now. We’ll see how that goes.

Parent Trap And Mod Squad

Sunday, March 28th, 1999

It snowed this morning. That’s fairly typical for spring weather in Spokane, but I thought that it was especially ironic since I took off my studded snow tires yesterday. It melted rapidly though and didn’t hinder my driving.

I finally saw the new Parent Trap this afternoon. It was a very cute movie. I liked it a lot.

This evening I saw The Mod Squad. There was a lot of walking around with attitude to cool/funky music by the three young stars and not a whole lot of substance, but I enjoyed it.

Weather

Monday, February 8th, 1999

It snowed a little bit this evening right at the end of work, but it didn’t end up being all that much. That was especially good since I usually park on a hill and it can be a big mess.

I think being able to see the latest doppler radar for the area is the coolest thing.

Tomorrow it’s rematch time with University. The boys JV team plays at 4:45pm and the varsity plays at 8pm at U-High.
