F-22 Raptor

Tuesday, February 29th, 2000

Yesterday I was talking with Mary at lunch about something I had read where Bill Bradley had indicated he wanted to eliminate the F-22 Raptor program as a cost saving measure if he was elected. Considering the F-15′s it will replace are about 26 years old and the technological advances we’ve made since they came out (stealth technologies, more powerful computers, thrust vectored engines, classified stuff, etc.), not to mention the money we’ve already invested in developing the F-22 that didn’t strike me as a good course of action. Our conversation moved on to other things that I did actually like about Bradley and I didn’t think anything more of it. Then last night I happened to flip to a program on the Discovery Channel about Air Force test pilots and it spent several minutes discussing and showing footage of the F-22. Nothing like a good coincidence I always say.

Candidates, Freaks And Geeks

Saturday, February 26th, 2000

Continuing the recent parade of Presidential candidates and their wives through Spokane, Bill Bradley is going to be in town for a question and answer session tomorrow morning. I’m debating whether or not to go since it’s fairly early and I’m starting to lean towards McCain since he seems to be the most electable of the candidates I like these days. Guess I’ll see how I feel when I wake up.

Here’s a review of Freaks and Geeks that gives a good overview of what the show is all about. NBC seriously needs to GET A CLUE about this show!

Freaks And Geeks

Can you guess the correlations? Nifty mathematical application of Java that I found on cuwu.editthispage.com. I don’t think it will replace So You Want To Be A Millionaire or anything, but it’s still fun.

I’ve only seen it twice now, but I think Freaks and Geeks is by far my favorite show on tv right now. Last night Sam’s foray into fashion and hairstyling was highly entertaining.

This is fairly disappointing. I discovered this morning that Newer, the Mac upgrade company that recently announced upgrades for iMacs, is in the midst of serious financial problems. They’ve also been rumored to be working on upgrades for PowerBook G3′s, but unless they get things righted cool products like that will probably never see the light of day.

Seahawks And Microsoft

Sunday, November 14th, 1999

Okay, what can I say? Joey Galloway came out after just a week of practice and delivered tonight against the Broncos. I’m still annoyed that he turned down a fair offer.

Hmm. This Washington Post article about possible remedies to the Microsoft antitrust situation brings up a good point that I hadn’t thought of. Namely, if you split Microsoft into two companies (OS and Applications), you just end up with two companies with monopolies rather than one.

Cringely, of Triumph of the Nerds fame, is going to offer his solution next week.

Thursday Night Lineup

Thursday, May 20th, 1999

The majority of my free time this evening was spent watching the Thursday NBC lineup. Friends was pretty funny, especially the plot twist at the end. ER wasn’t too bad either.

Bike Shopping

Tuesday, April 20th, 1999

My visit to Wheelsport yesterday was pretty fruitful. I tried out two of the main models I was thinking about, the Trek 7500 and the Trek 7500 SHX. Front shocks make a huge difference in the feel of the bike!

I went out to my family’s to try making a cd with Kristen, but I forgot one important thing- the blank cdr’s! Doh!

I also watched Futurama of course. It was definitely the best one to date.

Futurama Night

Tuesday, April 13th, 1999

It’s Futurama time once again!

Futurama was definitely pretty funny tonight. Bender was more outrageous than ever.

I’m liking the sunny weather we’ve been having so far this week, but I wouldn’t mind a little rain again.

I finally figured out how to do extended server logs through Pair. It’s not like I’m getting a lot of hits at this point, but it should be both useful and interesting once I submit my site to the various search engines and or web rings. I’m not to the point yet where I want to do that however.
