Last night’s boys championship game was a hard fought battle, but in the end we couldn’t quite pull it off and Lincoln came away with a three point victory. Lincoln is a solid team and Justin Holt’s supporting cast stepped up big on offense yesterday while he focused his game on defending Sean Mallon.
Now that Sean Mallon’s high school career is over I’m really looking forward to watching him play at Gonzaga. He had four great years at Ferris I expect that he’ll have a tremendous career as a Zag as well.
In the real life intruding into my sheltered existence department Mary and I got rear-ended by my mom after she was rear-ended by a drunk driver while we were waiting for a red light at an intersection shortly after leaving the Tacoma Dome. No one was hurt seriously and our car seems to have come through unscathed, but we did have to spend four hours waiting in the ER for Mary to get what should have been a quick check up. Based on our previous experiences with ER waits we wouldn’t have bothered with the the hospital except for the fact that Mary is still on blood thinners for the blood clots she got back in January.
Today is also my dad’s birthday. He would have been 55 this year and I don’t think he could have asked for better a gift than the success this team had playing in his memory. Despite our second place finish I could not possibly be any prouder of the Ferris players and coaches for the job they did this season and I know that wherever my dad is now he feels exactly the same way.
