Okay, I think I’ve found something new to add to my computer-related purchase wishlist. EyeTV from El Gato Software is a digital video recorder for any Mac with a USB port running MacOS X. The software/hardware product comes with an external MPEG-1 encoder with built-in cable tuner and audio and video inputs. In other words, exactly what I’ve been looking for to convert some of my dad’s old basketball game tapes to a more durable digital format.
Unfortunately I’ll probably have to wait until my birthday before I can get one as I’ve already got another significant purchase in the works: EtherFast® Wireless AP + Cable/DSL Router w/4-Port Switch.
