This morning I think I finally figured out why Safari always ends up with pop-up window blocking turned off. For some reason Apple assigned Cmd-K as a shortcut to toggle the feature on and off. Unfortunately for me (and probably at least a few other users) that’s the same shortcut that Net Newswire Pro uses to mark all items in a news feed as read. Since I often switch back and forth between the two applications while getting up to date on the latest news on the web it’s fairly easy to inadvertantly use the shortcut in Safari when I was trying to use it in Net Newswire Pro. I really don’t understand why Apple would assign a shortcut to a feature that most users would prefer to activate and forget about.
