Chris J Davis had a series of articles on the Secrets of WordPress Theming: 1, 2 and 3. There’s some good information there covering the inner workings of WordPress’s theming system. It’ll be a while before I would consider applying any of that here at Axodys, but I do have a couple projects in mind that should be able to take advantage of the info.
Chris also had a hand in the creation of K2, a WordPress modification/theme that adds some additional functionality that the default themes don’t support.
