2.5″ form factor ssd hard drives have really dropped in price since I last bought one a few years ago. Some 1TB drives are even in the neighborhood of the magic $100 price point!

Today I was going through my reading lists from the last 7 years or so and it’s amazing how many books that I feel like I just read that are actually back in the 2014-2016 range.

I really like the CarPlay support in my mom’s car, but the audio connectivity flakiness is driving me crazy. The interface is working, the phone and car are interacting, but no podcast audio is coming out of the car speakers even as the playhead ticks along.

It’s been a weird year for watching GU basketball. For once things aligned so I could watch last night’s game, and I basically dozed my way through the first half as they blew out SCU on the road.

I was surprised how windy it was on today’s run. Snow is on the way later, if this wind sticks around we could see some crazy conditions.

Finally tried the new University District Bridge on my lunch run. It’s a great option for bike commuters and pedestrians and I’m planning to use it a lot this year.

Discovered two really interesting open source cross platform note-taking apps this week. Trilium, which has a SQLite datastore and reminds me of TiddlyWiki, and Notable, a really nice Markdown-centric that could steal users from NValt and its unreleased successor.

Just heard that Clemson football was treated to a fast food dinner at the Whitehouse thanks to the government shutdown. This is such a perfect microcosm of the Trumpster Fire we’re all living in that I’m going to leave it at that.

I am a big dummy. Downloaded some i386 versions of CentOS 7.6 by mistake, setup a couple vms thinking they were x64 and spent many hours banging my head against yum’s confounding refusal to install the x64 only MATE desktop packages as expected.

Got my end of year retirement fund report today. Worst losses I’ve experienced in 20 years, presumably thanks mostly to last month’s big market drop. At least I have still have around 20 years to recover.
